Overview:
- Day shift with weekend, evening and a holiday rotation required
- Day shift hours between 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Candidate must have open availability from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Job Description Summary:
Aids pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of patient medications, sterile products, TPNs, non-sterile medications, hazardous medications, and ADC medications and supplies, and ensures the delivery of these medications to nursing units. Trains new technicians, transporters, or pharmacy interns.Job Description:
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of and compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards and other regulatory requirements, which allow safe and accurate preparation and/or compounding of unit-dose medications (both oral and IV), including reconstitution when applicable. Completes daily, weekly, and monthly documentation of completed tasks in designated record keeping systems.
- Fills unit-dose medication cart for daily delivery; delivers unit-dose medication carts on time and according to designated workflow; restocks pharmacy work areas, pharmacy satellites, and ADCs with medications and supplies as needed; and inspects medication storage areas for expired or unusable medications pursuant to standards set forth by the regulatory agencies.
- Assist pharmacists in processing new medication orders and answering phones and provides accurate, safe, effective handoff to other team members.
- Participates in training new employees in the main pharmacy and limited specialized areas (when appropriate) and participates in the peer review process.
Education Requirement:
As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.
Licensure Requirement:
Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified) Technician Trainee accepted with expectation of incumbent to become registered or certified within 90 days of hire.
Certifications:
Certification by examination as a pharmacy technician (CPhT, ExCPT).
Skills:
Demonstrates competency on pharmacy technologies.
Detail-oriented, patient-centered, and strong moral character.
Experience:
Six months of previous pharmacy experience preferred.
