Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HSE Engineer to join our Roads Operations & Maintenance team in Doha, Qatar. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs for our road maintenance and operations projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE management systems, policies, and procedures for road operations and maintenance projects
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard identification for all project activities
- Perform environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations
- Design and implement emergency response plans for road maintenance operations
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors
- Manage HSE reporting and analytics using specialized software tools
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to integrate HSE considerations into all aspects of road operations and maintenance
- Stay updated on international HSE standards and local regulations, ensuring company compliance
- Mentor and lead a team of HSE professionals, fostering a culture of safety excellence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent or a related field;
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of experience in HSE roles, with at least 3 years specifically in roads operations and maintenance
- Proven track record in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures
- Extensive experience in risk assessment, hazard identification, and environmental impact assessment
- Strong knowledge of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis
- Proficiency in conducting safety audits, inspections, and developing corrective action plans
- Expertise in emergency response planning and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective HSE training programs
- Advanced skills in HSE software and reporting tools
- In-depth knowledge of international HSE standards and regulations
- Familiarity with road construction and maintenance safety practices
- Understanding of local HSE laws and regulations in Qatar
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are a plus
