The Revenue Accountant I performs a wide variety of accounting and finance responsibilities, including the preparation and review of recurring and non-recurring journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, significant tasks during the month end close, P&L variance analysis, and the preparation and review of various other analytics. Under general direction, the Revenue Accountant I will be responsible for all aspects of accounting related to Vendor Program Rebates and Accounts Receivable.

The Revenue Accountant on the Paradies-Lagardere Accounting/Finance team must adhere to tight deadlines, possess an exceptional ability for time management and organization, and be able to adapt to changing priorities.  This position will involve frequent contact with Accounting Managers, Merchandisers, Controller and Chief Financial Officer as well as other departments, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the accounting profession by owning recognition, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing all aspects of $42 million annual NRI (Non-Retail Income) programs for all divisions of the organization.
  • Review and analyze vendor revenue contracts and exercise independent judgement to ensure compliance with contract terms, GAAP, and company policies and procedures.
  • Work with multiple internal (merchandise team) and external (vendors) to maintain A/R Aging less than 90 days, ensuring working capital is optimized.
  • Analyze and use judgement to determine collectability for invoiced amounts and calculate and record necessary reserves for bad debt.
  • Responsible for producing timely and accurate vendor program rebate reporting; distribute reporting to merchandise Directors to provide monthly status on amounts recognized and collected vs annual budget.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments within the Company that have a direct impact on areas of responsibility (Operations, Merchandising, and Accounts Payable).
  • Actively participate in the month end close by completing journal entries and performing a thorough review of financial statements and balance sheets, ensuring accuracy.
  • Ownership and review of line-item variances to budget and last year during the month end process, including research, written explanations, and support on follow-up questions.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities or process improvements and develop plans to execute.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Actively participate with external audit work papers and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in accounting or finance
  • SAP Experience preferred
  • Accounts Receivable Experience
  • Desire to identify and implement process improvements
  • Must be computer literate with strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups)
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills
  • Work with a consistent sense of urgency but also with a balanced plan of attack
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations
  • Accurate with exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be a team player and successfully juggle and complete multiple priorities.
