Job Description

The Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and repair of the company's Oracle database systems. This includes ensuring the performance, availability, and security of the databases, as well as the integrity and confidentiality of the data they contain.

A substantial portion of this role will involve collaboration and teamwork with other team members. As such this role is based in the Melbourne office to be able to leverage the facilities and tools required to support this kind of work while also providing flexibility to work remotely with offshore teams who work in different time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and resolve incidents, service requests, changes and problems relating to Engineering Oracle database instances
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including tuning queries, creating indexes, and troubleshooting issues
  • Manage database security and integrity, availability, backup and restoration activities
  • Proactively manage capacity related concerns and respond to alerting identified by monitoring
  • Evaluate, recommend and action vulnerability, patching and software upgrade activities.
  • Uplift existing systems and management tools
  • Identify service delivery improvement opportunities
  • Design, implement, and maintain database systems based on business and technical requirements
  • Maintain documentation of database systems, including data dictionaries and change management log
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas and object structures
  • Provide technical input and support for Engineering projects
  • Coordination of Oracle database infrastructure resources as needed.
  • Make configuration changes to achieve objectives

You'Ll Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related Information Technology discipline (preferred)
  • Industry related certification in Oracle and Linux favourable
  • ITIL Foundation V4
  • 10 plus years Oracle DBA experience
  • Working in team environments and to deadlines
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud, Oracle RAC, and Oracle Data Guard is a plus
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, Red Hat Linux OS, Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Cloud favourable
  • Database Sharding and Partitioning:  Skills in distributing data across multiple databases (sharding) and dividing large tables into smaller, more manageable segments (partitioning) for scalability.
  • Application-Specific Performance Tuning:  Deep expertise in optimizing performance for applications for high-transaction systems
  • Applied understanding of Agile methodologies and ways of working.
  • Airline Experience preferred
