Job Description

This position is contingent on contract award.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is looking for an individual who is an experienced urologist to diagnose and treat conditions related to the urinary tract and male reproductive system, providing comprehensive care that includes medical management, surgical procedures, and patient education. The role is crucial in improving patients' quality of life through the treatment of diseases such as kidney stones, bladder dysfunction, and prostate disorders. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical urology services including surgeries, consultations for both outpatient and inpatient care, cystoscopies, and other related procedures. This also includes pre-operative, post-operative, follow-up care, and emergency urological consultation from the Emergency Room as needed.  
  • Be present on time for any scheduled clinics or surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.  
  • Provide direct patient care including specialty exams such as compensation and pension, agent orange, etc., as it pertains to urological conditions only. 
  • Communicate test results in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients. 
  • Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.  
  • Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all urology clinical or surgical patients. 
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee. 
  • Attend staff meetings as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee. Contractor to communicate with COR on this requirement and report any conflicts that may interfere with compliance with this requirement. 
  • Complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome of examinations. 
  • Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care. 
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:

  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. 
  • Active practice in general urology for the past two years. 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 

Education Required:

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. 
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU). 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
