Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market driven rates. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior API and Integration Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of integration solutions across healthcare payer systems. This role will serve as a system integrator, responsible for connecting diverse platforms using modern APIs, middleware technologies, and cloud-native services. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a strong understanding of healthcare data and compliance standards. Develops proposed technology solutions to support efforts in meeting CBC’s rapidly changing business requirements. Serves as a systems integrator for the deployment of new/emerging technologies. Leads new/emerging technology projects ranging in size up to and including those that will have significant corporate-wide impact. Researches emerging and evolving technologies and assesses the applicability to the Plan. Monitors CBC’s use of technology and makes appropriate recommendations for technology enhancement or replacement on an ongoing basis. Provides consulting services to the various business and technical areas of the Plan.
Responsibilities And Qualifications
- Design and develop scalable, secure APIs using REST, GraphQL, and SOAP architectural styles.
- Integrate systems across hybrid environments (on-premise and Azure Cloud) using middleware technologies such as Apache Kafka and Azure Service Bus.
- Serves as a systems integrator for the deployment of new/emerging technologies in order to ensure that the various technologies will work well together throughout the Plan.
- Implement and manage API gateways (e.g., Azure API Management, Apigee) and enforce security protocols including OAuth2, JWT, and API keys.
- Develop and optimize database interactions using SQL Server and Oracle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver integration solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Serve as a technical lead, guiding junior developers and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Conduct API testing using tools like Postman and Swagger UI.
- Manage code repositories and collaboration workflows using GitHub.
- Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and internal security policies.
- Leads projects involving the deployment of new/emerging technologies, including those that will have significant corporate-wide impact.
- Provides consulting support to the various business and technical areas of the Plan and affiliates as requested
Skills
- Proficiency in Java and Node.js; experience with Python and C# is a plus.
- Strong understanding of API design principles and integration patterns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for complex challenges.
- Exceptional communication skills for technical and non-technical audience including presentation of data, answering questions and listening to concerns.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.

Experience
- 12 years of work experience in software development.
- Three years of experience in project management or supervisory role.
- 6+ years of experience in API development and system integration.
- Experienced working with other technical leads in a complex environment with multiple concurrent projects.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, SQL Server, Oracle, and Azure Cloud Services.
- Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
- Extensive experience in programming languages Java, and Node.js.
- Experience in the healthcare payer industry (claims, eligibility, provider data, etc.).
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and Devsecops practices
- Extensive understanding of cloud hosting, data flows in heterogeneous platforms, and API solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and EDI X12.
- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Experience in Salesforce development and integration will be plus
Education, Certification, and Licenses
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
