Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The Lean Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence at the Panama Fulfillment Center (PFC) in Colón. This position is responsible for monitoring productivity calculations and effective working times, securing the accuracy of labor metrics, and conducting in-depth analyses to identify the key drivers of performance indicators. Based on these insights, the role leads the design and execution of initiatives that drive efficiency and improve overall performance.

In addition, the Lean & Labor Management Supervisor supports the strategic application of Lean principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and sustainable process optimization. Acting as a catalyst for change, this role enables workforce development, cross-functional collaboration, and alignment with the organization’s vision of continuous improvement.

The position is also accountable for leading and managing the effective documentation of Distribution Center (DC) processes, ensuring their quality and applicability for training, onboarding, and continuous learning purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Performance Indicators Management & Labor Data Integrity
  • Present performance and productivity results, providing bi-weekly reports to area leaders and presenting results in monthly operational performance reviews. Drive corrective actions with relevant areas when required.
  • Develop tools, reports, and dashboards to ensure data accuracy, improve user understanding, and promote self-service through user-friendly and accessible platforms.
  • Design and implement new performance indicators that positively impact operations, drive efficiency and enabling effective monitoring of critical topics.
  • Ensure data integrity in the Labor Management System (WMS) and support UPH calculations.

Frequency: Daily/Weekly validation; bi-weekly reporting; monthly presentations.

  1. Trainings, Continuous Improvement & Kaizen Initiatives
  • Support the design and delivery of Lean and process training programs, aligned with the PFC Academy and SCM Academy Framework.
  • Facilitate Lean workshops (Kaizens, Boot Camps) and support Lean Ambassador Manager initiatives.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors to identify improvement opportunities and develop business cases with measurable KPIs.
  • Complete all trainings provided by the Global team, prioritizing the mandatory ones and as many of the optional ones as possible. In alignment with the Lean Manager, cascade the necessary trainings to the rest of the DC team.

Frequency: Quarterly planning; monthly execution.

  1. Standardization & Process Documentation
  • Lead the creation, revision, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across PFC operations.
  • Guarantee that all SOPs meet the highest standards of quality and clarity, making them easily understandable for both operational staff and individuals unfamiliar with day-to-day processes.
  • Identify processes and activities that require documentation to ensure operational standardization, knowledge preservation, and effective onboarding and training.
  • Ensure compliance with established update frequencies and internal governance policies to maintain documentation accuracy and relevance.

Frequency: On demand; updates based on internal policy requirements.

  1. Lean & Cultural Sustainability
  • Actively participate in meetings with the regional and global Lean teams, supporting the Lean Manager in presenting results, best practices, etc.
  • Plan and execute internal Lean audits, including 6S, Standard Work, Gemba Walks, Shopfloor Management, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
  • Monitor adherence to Lean standards and drive improvement actions in line with the Performance Ecosystem Plan.

Frequency: 6S (monthly); Gemba Walks (weekly); Shopfloor reviews (monthly); VSM (yearly); Lean standards adherence (monthly).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence across levels.
  • Strong process-oriented mindset with proven experience in SCM, distribution centers, or manufacturing operations.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Lean Management and tools  (6S, Gemba, Kaizen, VSM).
  • Experience in designing and facilitating workshops and training programs.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • University degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Process Engineering, or related fields.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or equivalent knowledge (Mandatory).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Lean Manufacturing, or Process Improvement.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel intermediate and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power Query) is a plus.

  • English: Intermediate to advanced proficiency

Location & Mobility

  • Candidates must reside in Panama City or Colón City.
  • Daily travel to the PFC in Colón may be required.
  • Relocation support is not available for this position.
