Job Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of all site services infrastructure at the mine, including fixed maintenance assets, the water treatment plant, the concentrate management facility, and road networks. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
- Oversee routine and reactive maintenance for non-mobile fixed infrastructure (buildings and facilities.)
- Ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to, and downtime is minimized.
- Supervise maintenance personnel and contractors on site.
- Lead operations and maintenance of the site’s water treatment facilities.
- Ensure water quality standards are met in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Supervise daily operations of the Concentrated Management Facility. (CMF)
- Ensure material handling is performed safely and without environmental risk.
- Oversee the maintenance and inspection of site roads and drainage systems.
- Coordinate with civil teams and contractors for grading, resurfacing, and erosion control.
- Ensure roads are maintained to enable safe and efficient vehicle movement.
- Monitor containment systems and coordinate any necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Implement SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and job safety analyses.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action planning.
- Lead and mentor a team of technicians and operators.
- Prepares required documents for the department, such as training documents, communications, and
- reports on safety incidents
- Establish and maintain good relations with peers, supervisors, and promote positive attitudes, safe work practices and adherence to safe work standards.
- Lead by example, provide guidance, and motivate employees to work safely.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Meet or exceed the performance expectations established by management.
- Punctuality and regular attendance required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Skills
- College or technical degree in a related field preferred.
- 10 years of experience in mining or industrial site services.
- 3 years of experience supervising a team.
- Proven experience with fixed maintenance, road maintenance, and water treatment plant operations.
- Experience with both underground and surface mining operations preferred.
- Ability to operate equipment at the highest standards and production rates.
- Understanding of MSHA regulations preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), and safety reporting tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.
- Capability to work in both office and field environments.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
