We are seeking a Senior International Logistics Officer who will have responsibility for all aspects of the import/export traffic process for Trade Compliance laws, including but not limited to the Department of Commerce, Department of State, Census Bureau, Customs, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The International Logistics Officer will provide guidance and support to internal resources to identify controlled technology, software and hardware, licensable transactions, evaluate requirements for export licenses, complete Census/Customs filings, assess country of origin rules. This role will also have a responsibility to manage, review and execute international shipments, imports (including RMAs), evaluate tariff impact, assess foreign country requirements, and provide analysis to business partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop international traffic policy and procedures
- Prepare, coordinate and approve international shipments in accordance with U.S. trade laws
- Prepare, coordinate and approve imports (including RMAs)
- Verify proper export jurisdiction and classifications for products, technology and software in accordance with applicable U.S. export controls (EAR and ITAR) for both internal and 3rd party vendors/suppliers
- Analyze proposed international logistics activities for import and export control implications
- Prepare and/or validate international customs documents to ensure timely flow of goods
- Understand the changing tariff climate and apply to company transactions
- Familiar with Dangerous Goods and handling
- Interact with business operations in arranging international shipments, meeting customer services standards
- Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into operational systems
- Contribute to maintaining good relationships with freight forwarders and customs brokers
- Meet compliance at all times with internal and external processes in accordance with U.S. export regulations
- Understand department process flow, looking for best practices to improve operational efficiency and productivity
- Monitor and study relevant regulatory developments that impact international traffic
- Help business partners understand the risks and consequences of the international logistics situation.
- Manage record-keeping and reporting requirements.
You’d be a good fit with:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Working knowledge with U.S. trade laws (EAR, ITAR, OFAC, Customs)
- 5+ years of experience in international traffic, logistics, and customs
- Practical day-to-day experience handling export-controlled items
- Familiarity of handling Dangerous Goods
- Working knowledge of Customs & Border Protection's automated systems
- Experience completing international documentation (commercial invoices, country of origin certificates)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with both peers, supervisor, program management teams and senior leadership
- Location: This role is based at our office in College Park, MD, with the option to work remotely a few days a week. Open to remote for the right candidate.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $81,995 - $106,924. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
Compensation will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Beyond base salary, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component and a range of benefit options found on our career site at ionq.co/jobs.
