The Position

SHE (Safety, Health & Environment Protection) Lead - Roche Diagnostics India & Neighboring Markets

The Position

  • As the SHE (Safety, Health & Environment Protection) Lead for Roche Diagnostics India & Neighboring Markets (NM), you will play a critical role in shaping and sustaining a culture of SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) and sustainability across all our operations. \
  • This dynamic position combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise, allowing you to influence SHE & Sustainability outcomes while collaborating across teams and guidinginitiatives that drive continuous improvement and regulatory excellence.
  • You will function as the primary Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Business Partner for our operations in India and NM. Your responsibilities will span diverse functions, including our diagnostics business in India & NM, supply chain with third party warehousing and distributor network, office facilities, waste management processes and field operations primarily sales and

Service.

- You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining SHE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure full compliance with all local, state, national laws and regulations, as well as with Roche’s global SHE guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

● Program Leadership & Implementation: Coordinate, develop, implement, and maintain SHE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and Roche Directives and Standards. This includes managing programs related to physical safety, environmental protection, emergency management, biosafety, fire safety, occupational health, mental health & wellbeing, Road safety, field & event safety in commercial operations and support in business continuity management.

● SHE Regulatory Compliance: Be abreast of all the SHE regulatory requirements like EPR (Plastic, E-waste, Battery etc.) and ensure strict compliance to the requirements.

● Strategic Partnership: Serve as the subject matter expert, providing guidance to leadership and staff on resolving technical problems, interpreting laws, and

implementing company directives. Facilitate collaboration across business functions to help management establish and achieve SHE and sustainability objectives.

● Risk & Hazard Management: Proactively inspect and conduct hazard evaluations of all work areas. Assess potential risks associated with equipment, materials, processes, facilities and commercial events to identify and control hazardous conditions and ensure regulatory compliance.

● Audits & Inspections: Develop and conduct formal internal SHE inspections and audits of own operations as well third party operations. Assist with or lead external audits as required and track the resolution of any identified issues.

● Training & Development: Assist management with new staff orientation and training. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the team’s ability to achieve total impact recognition in safety and compliance.

● Business Continuity & Emergency Response: Participate in emergency planning and response teams, ready to act in emergency situations as needed.

● Reporting & Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of key program areas, analyzing trends and making data-driven recommendations. Establish and improve the company’s ability to track, measure, and report on SHE activities on digital platforms in line with group requirements.

● Sustainability & ESG: Support global sustainability initiatives in India and drive local ESG programs.

Who You Are

● Education: A Bachelors Degree in a relevant field such as physical science, life science,environmental sciences, engineering or industrial hygiene. A Masters Degree inEnvironment Management / Science. Occupational Safety qualification from reputed institutions. Certifications in Sustainability or ESG is preferred.

● Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in a Safety, Health &Environment role within a relevant industry such as pharmaceuticals, diagnostics,chemicals at corporate set up and exposure to SHE in commercial operations.

Skills:

○ Comprehensive knowledge of SHE principles, regulations, and best practices.

○ Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, solve complex problems,

and make informed decisions.

○ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with

diverse teams and stakeholders at local and international levels.

○ Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives with considerable

Independence.

○ A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
