Our client, the Department of the Navy’s Ship Maintenance Performance Group (SMPG), seeks a highly experienced Client Executive to serve as the strategic right hand and trusted advisor to the government leadership suite. This role is embedded within the client’s leadership team and functions as a critical integrator of strategic initiatives, leadership alignment, and enterprise communication across a complex, data-driven mission environment.

As Client Executive, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional coordination, managing senior-level stakeholder engagements, and driving alignment of organizational priorities with the Director’s strategic vision. This position requires a seasoned consultant with a strong mix of strategic acumen, operational insight, and collaborative leadership. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to exercise executive-level judgment and decisiveness, navigating complex organizational environments and driving results autonomously when representing client leadership
- Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary strategic advisor and business partner to the Director, facilitating the execution of enterprise-level initiatives and leadership priorities.
- Confidently act with delegated authority, making critical decisions in the absence of the Director/Program Manager to maintain operational continuity and advance strategic objectives.
- Lead coordination across multiple departments, aligning cross-functional teams and stakeholders to optimize mission outcomes.
- Provide direct support to the Director in internal and external forums, translating leadership intent into actionable plans and communications.
- Develop and manage governance frameworks and decision-making processes that increase transparency, accountability, and responsiveness.
- Deliver comprehensive program oversight and progress reporting, synthesizing complex data and organizational inputs for senior leadership review.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities, recommending proactive adjustments to plans and resource allocation.
- Foster strong relationships across client leadership, external partners, and vendor teams to ensure mission success and stakeholder satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required - advanced degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years experience acting as a senior strategic advisor or Client Executive/Program Manager in a complex, mission-driven environment (government, defense, or large commercial clients preferred).
- Demonstrated success managing multi-stakeholder initiatives with high levels of ambiguity and organizational complexity.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills; comfortable representing executive leadership to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence without direct authority.Experience in defense, Navy, or ship maintenance/logistics environments is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- This role operates embedded with the client; flexibility and adaptability are key.Expected to proactively assess situations and make authoritative decisions aligned with client priorities, maintaining leadership effectiveness even in leadership’s absence.
- Expected to manage client expectations, deliver high-value engagement outcomes, and proactively address challenges, anticipation of emerging organizational needs and implementing mitigations.
- Demonstrated ability to confidently represent senior leadership and make high-impact decisions aligned with organizational priorities when acting on behalf of executive leadership.
- Managing cross-functional initiatives or programs requiring interdepartmental coordination and oversight.
- Developing or facilitating organizational planning, policy implementation, and governance structures.
- Preparing & delivering high-level briefings, reports, and decision-support materials to senior executives.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
