Job Description
The Human Resource Benefits Specialist will oversee administration of benefits, wellness program, and retirement programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, FSA, HSA, supplemental benefits, and 401 (k) plans. The position will administer the enrollment, communication, monitoring of payroll deductions, and implementation of benefit plans company wide. The position will administer Leave of Absence and ADA (Americans with Disabilities) leaves in coordination with third party vendor. In addition, the position will also support and maintain the organization’s HRIS applications and functions related to benefits such as maintaining employee records, etc.
- Execute the administration of company benefits programs.
- Utilizes ZenDesk software to efficiently process tickets, addressing employee inquiries, technical issues, and escalation requests in a timely manner.
- Monitor and administer carrier connect with all carriers and ensure accuracy before every pay period and month-end.
- Responsible for all reporting and compliance with all benefits related matters, such as ACA, 5500 and discrimination testing, including 401(k).
- Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding employee benefits to ensure benefits policy is compliant with the set laws and regulations.
- Conduct new-hire orientation on benefits.
- Assist with open enrollment process.
- Development and execution of wellness initiatives and strategy.
- Perform audits of benefits-related data.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and HR staff to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommend and implement solutions.
- Creates and maintains Excel reports to analyze data, track key metrics, and provide insights for decision-making purposes across various departments or projects within the organization.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, Associate with 7 years of experience or High School with 10 years of experience required
- Five or more years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures.
- Highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and/or related software.
- Thorough understanding of all areas of information systems with a highly technical understanding of at least one commercial HRIS product.
- Ability to work independently, within prescribed guidelines, or as a team member.
- Performs job under general supervision and work with specialized or technical positions requiring specialist training, experience or knowledge.
