Team Leader – Laboratory Services

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Team Leader -Laboratory Services to join our dedicated on-site team in Blanchardstown, Dublin. This leadership role will oversee daily laboratory support operations, coordinate resources, and ensure service levels are consistently achieved.

About The Role

Avantor Services provides a broad variety of on-site laboratory services for leading pharmaceutical customers. We work in partnership with our clients to deliver critical scientific support, ensuring their scientists can focus fully on advancing research.

What You’Ll Do

As Team Leader, You Will:

• Coordinate daily operations: Oversee workload, service levels, schedules, and resource allocation for the Lab Services team.
• Provide technical expertise: Guide preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation for laboratory instruments (pipettes, balances, pH meters, bioreactors, biological safety cabinets, freezers, etc.).
• Manage solution preparation services: Support preparation of non-GMP buffers, solvents, and mobile phases, ensuring accurate labelling, documentation in Customer ELN, and compliance with SHE procedures.
• Oversee glassware management: Ensure timely collection, washing, inspection, and return of laboratory glassware to stock locations.
• Support lab operations: Coordinate expired solution disposal, vacuum system venting, unpacking/logging of deliveries, and logistics for sample shipments.
• Lead and mentor the team: Train new Lab Services Associates, ensure cross-training across tasks, and develop skills to provide full coverage of services.
• Drive continuous improvement: Champion 5S activities, identify process efficiencies, and deliver improvements that reduce cost and save time for the customer.
• Governance and reporting: Provide KPIs and SLA reporting for governance meetings and huddle boards, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Stakeholder communication: Act as the key contact for the Site Services Manager, escalating issues promptly and ensuring effective information flow. 

What you’ll need to succeed

• Background:  BSc [or equivalent] in a scientific discipline, including laboratory based modules

• Proven people management experience.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing laboratory support role; experience in the pharmaceutical sector is highly desirable.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and experience with a wide range of laboratory equipment.
• IT literate; proficiency in MS Office Suite and SAP preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
• “People first” attitude with excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
• Other: Valid driving licence.
