Mission And Goals
This role with sit within the revenue and COGS accounting team and will contribute to accurate revenue recognition, reporting, and analysis across various departments within Gen. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with accounting standards such as US GAAP (ASC 606), preparing monthly journal entries, and reconciling revenue/COGS accounts to support timely & reliable financial reporting.
The role also supports audits, contributes to forecasting processes, and provides insights into Gen’s revenue streams to that help drive strategic financial decisions.
The position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, knowledge of revenue and cost accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Objectives
- Support & participate in the Revenue & COGS month-end/ quarter end/year-end activities to ensure complete, timely and accurate reporting
- Analyze and apply revenue recognition principles (e.g. US GAAP ASC 606) across contracts and transactions.
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries in accordance with accounting standards, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and ready for managerial review and approval.
- Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Perform contract reviews and collaborate with sales & commercial teams to interpret contract terms for revenue implications.
- Assist with 10q/10K revenue schedules, reconciliations, and variance analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide documentation and analysis for internal and external audits.
- Partner with internal stakeholders for quarterly forecasting/budgeting and provide analysis to upper management
- Identify and implement improvements in Revenue/COGS accounting processes and systems
- Complete User Acceptance Testing (UAT) when required to validate system functionality, data integrity, and process workflows against business requirements.
Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of US GAAP reporting requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software (i.e Oracle ERP, Oracle R12, Business Objects, Essbase, RMCS)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
