With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £10bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, the Transmission Customer and Commercial team will play key roles in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.
The Senior Business Analyst undertakes a range of regulatory and commercial analysis tasks in support of the company delivering their T2 & T3 business plan. They support the Commercial and Reporting Manager to facilitate effective management of governance of commercial activity and the Operational Improvement Manager to identify and implement Process Improvement activities and business change.
The postholder will work closely with the Transmission Projects Teams, providing regulatory and commercial guidance and analysis to inform commercial aspects of project and operations delivery, specifically regulatory compliance and reporting requirements to ensure accurate reporting of cost
And Volume Performance.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing Technical I.T. solutions, guidance and analysis in support of commercial aspects of project and operations delivery, specifically in terms of alignment with regulatory allowance and reporting requirements to ensure accurate reporting of cost and volume performance.
- Having accountability for the data quality & accuracy of the SPT RRP reporting dataset.
- Supporting submission of the annual regulatory cost and output reporting packs (RRP), providing leadership and direction to staff in SPT to ensure a complete and accurate submission.
- Assist in preparing and planning presentations on regulatory performance/current issues to Head of Customer and Commercial and Management Team within SPT.
- Liaise and collaborate closely with NP&R, Control Teams and wider SPT business with regard to production of required regulatory submissions.
- Supporting the licensed business compliance with Regulatory Instructions & Guidance (RIGs).
- Responsible for providing key internal management information on regulatory and commercial performance throughout the year.
- Plays a pivotal role producing cost and economic analysis, providing regulatory advice to other parts of the SPT business and by consolidating cost forecasts for various parts of the business plan from relevant departments.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Data Assurance Guidance (DAG) which is now a mandatory Licence condition, where appropriate.
- Responsible for delivery of training and awareness across the SPT business with regard to commercial and regulatory information.
- Responsible for supporting Customer and Commercial team in the production of commercial reports and associated Governance.
- Responsible for implementation of key process improvement activities.
What You’Ll Bring
The successful candidate will have a relevant academic qualification (Computing, Data Science, etc) at degree level or equivalent.
Consideration will also be given to high calibre candidates with relevant experience in delivering I.T. solutions (including low code solutions like MS Excel, MS Access, Visual Basic, PowerBI, PowerApps).
As a minimum, candidates will demonstrate as a minimum:
- At least three years’ experience of developing low code I.T. solutions from Concept to completion.
- Evidence of strong communication skills.
- Super user standard in use of the various Microsoft & Low Code software packages (Excel, Access, Word, PowerBI, PowerApps, Visual Basic) .
- Experience in working with SAP.
- Good understanding of commercial and regulatory environment for a transmission operator.
We are looking for individuals with excellent people, communication, problem solving and time management skills, able to effectively communicate objectives and deliver projects with multiple milestones and be numerically articulate with strong attention to detail.
They will have experience of preparing I.T. business requirements, test plans and user guides reports, presenting to senior management and devising solutions to complex problems & challenges, involving consultation with others in the business, resolving differences and presenting a common agreed perspective is required.
