This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.

A Day In The Life:
- Oversee maintenance crews, prioritize work and evaluate performance.
- Manage hiring and termination decisions.
- Develop and implement plans to improve productivity and safety.
- Work closely with other districts and leaders to accomplish goals and respond to emergencies.
- Oversee winter operations by monitoring weather and distributing resources to clear roadways.
- Represent the agency, address local concerns and inform the public of highway activities.
- Participate in statewide committees to shape policy, share best practices and review standards.
- Manage fleet and equipment needs.
- Respond to emergencies and work with law enforcement and other agencies to resolve issues.
- Develop and manage budgets, contracts and projects while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Exposure to all weather conditions, heavy equipment and hazardous waste materials is expected and may require lifting up to 70 pounds.
- In state travel is required and may need to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on call and weather related purposes.

Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in transportation operations and maintenance.
Or
Two years of related experience in transportation operations and maintenance and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Special Qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
This position has the option of living in state housing at the Lakeview maintenance station. If no on-site housing is available or the final candidate does not want to live in state housing, this position requires a maximum 45 minute response time to 1269 S. G Street, Lakeview, OR 97630 for emergency call-outs.
