Job Description
What is the opportunity?
As the Product Strategist in RBC BlueBay Asset Management, you will act as the bridge between investment teams, business development teams and clients, providing fixed income expertise, driving product strategy, and supporting the growth and commercialization of fixed income solutions in the Asia time zone.
What will you do?
- Support the business development teams in Asia through serving as the technical subject matter expert for the full suite of RBC BlueBay fixed income solutions.
- Closely work with the Head of Business Development AxJ to formulate best client approach and communications with a client centric mindset, and engage with both internal and external clients to understand their needs and provide tailored product recommendations.
- Develop, maintain and customize product narratives, educational materials, and presentations to support client engagement and drive fixed income product adoption in Asia ex-Japan markets.
- Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, research teams, marketing, and distribution to ensure alignment of product strategy and delivery, and ensure strong local technical supports for local clients in Asia.
- Conduct regular client reviews to support sales and client services activities, including portfolio performance, risk attribution, and market commentary.
- Lead or contribute to the development, commercialization, and ongoing monitoring of fixed income products, including identifying product gaps and proposing enhancements.
- Participate in product due diligence, lifecycle management, and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal compliance standards.
- Monitor market developments, competitor landscape, and client feedback to refine product positioning and strategy.
- Support account transition events and ensure smooth onboarding or changes to client mandates.
- Represent the firm in client meetings, industry events, outlook events, and thought leadership initiatives related to fixed income markets.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-Have
- University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline; advanced qualifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA, etc.) are advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in fixed income product development, strategy, or portfolio management, preferably with global or regional exposure. Asia client knowledge is a must, and experience of working in Asia private banks or asset management in Asia is strongly preferred.
- Proven expertise in fixed income markets, products, and portfolio construction, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audience.
- Strong track record and experience in conducting client reviews, portfolio reviews and mandate tender process.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with market data tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Excel); quantitative skills are a must.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate well and collaborate across investment, sales, and client teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under pressure.
- Proficiency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is highly preferred for Hong Kong-based roles.
- Strong sense of ownership, client service mindset, and high ethical standards.
