Position Overview:

Freddie Mac has an exciting and challenging leadership opportunity for a Vice President of Security Architecture and Automation.  The focus will be on improving operational efficiencies and reliability of the existing on-premise Security tools ecosystem while transforming the teams to work in an increasingly cloud native environment as Freddie embraces and then moves primarily into the public cloud.

Our Impact

We are seeking a motivated individual who will play a leadership role in our transformation into an Agile & DevOps focused organization with aspirations of being cloud native. The candidate should have a strong ability to adapt and apply Security expertise to a varying array of issues relating to the “industrialization” and operation of the Freddie Security tools platform at scale as well as periodic maintenance and integration with new and existing tools/applications. The end goal is to create a seamless transition of the existing Security tool ecosystem to cloud native architectures and assist application teams with their transition all while maintaining operational stability.

Your Impact

  • Set vision, lead and coach security architecture and automation teams accountable for designing and architecting cloud solutions and cloud security controls.
  • Adopt and champion Agile methodologies to improve workflow velocity and leadership visibility into project timelines and efficiency.
  • Maintain vigilance about current threat vectors and expertise of the ecosystem of cloud security-related tools.
  • Develop security patterns to enable developers to design and build applications with appropriate security controls.
  • Drive and adopt a culture driven by data where key performance indicators are gathered from top to bottom and fed to automated tooling to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Standardize and automate security tools configuration/patching processes in the cloud.
  • Prototype new security tools and technologies based on organizational strategy and evolving threats while looking for opportunities to optimize, consolidate and manage out tools that no longer meet company needs.
  • Automate security testing in the CI/CD pipelines to improve application development lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years leading Security teams supporting cloud adoption at an enterprise scale; with a preference for experience leading threat protection efforts for legacy applications being deployed to the cloud
  • Minimum of 12 years of leadership experience in Enterprise IT
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent leadership skill, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience (at scale) with managing information security on platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform; with a preference for experience working in a hybrid public/private cloud model
  • Thorough understanding of and experience implementing security technologies 
  • High level understanding of cloud PaaS systems such as OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, or similar system
  • High level understanding of containerization tech such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with VMWare a plus
  • Experience participating in discussions with senior leadership to understand the vision and strategic goals being supported by the team
  • Experience communicating project and budget status to senior leadership on regular, defined intervals
  • Experience with business financial management, compliance and regulatory requirements, program management, change management and risk management

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $243,000 - $365,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
