Job Description

The College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-Month, Tenure-Track position of Higher Education Administration at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. The position may begin as early as Spring 2026 semester.

The Department of Educational Leadership is committed to advancing educational leadership across all educational settings. We offer five graduate programs of study, which includes the M.S. in Higher Education Administration and the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a cognate of Higher Education Administration. Both emphasize college student development, institutional governance, and operations through a critical justice-oriented lens.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Teaching graduate-level courses in the Higher Education Administration M.S. and Educational Leadership Ed.D. programs, including core and applied-research topics;
  • Establishing and leading an active research agenda commensurate with a Carnegie Research 2 institution, with an emphasis on producing impactful scholarship and pursuing external funding opportunities;
  • Disseminating research findings through peer-reviewed publications, practitioner outlets, and scholarly conferences;
  • Advising and mentoring graduate students, including chairing and serving on dissertation committees; and
  • Supporting student recruitment and retention in both the M.S. and Ed.D. programs.

We seek a scholar with higher education experience who will help advance the university's mission and prepare future educational leaders. More specifically, we seek a colleague whose research and teaching engage critical and innovative approaches and methods to address institutional challenges, social and environmental barriers, and problems in professional practice. The ideal candidate will explore ways to improve college access and transition, academic and social success, and/or propose policy-related interventions that enhance student outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in higher education/postsecondary or student affairs administration.
  • At least one (1) year of full-time professional administrative experience in higher education institutions (e.g., academic advising, student affairs, enrollment management, or student support services)
  • Demonstrated evidence of engaging in scholarly/creative works and teaching to enhance the mission of the university with expertise or scholarly emphasis in one or more of the following areas: community colleges, academic advising, developmental education, or student development
  • Demonstrated participation in scholarly-practitioner communities (e.g., campus, state-wide, and national conferences) and the dissemination of scholarship to both academic and applied audiences
  • Ability to teach underserved student populations, including ongoing efforts to improve pedagogy and student outcomes
  • At least three (3) years of full-time professional administrative experience in higher education institutions
  • Evidence of pursuing externally funded research support
  • Evidence of effective teaching in graduate programs in online or hybrid formats
  • Evidence of mentoring first-generation, low-income, and/or working professional graduate students
