The Senior PD Engineering Manager will act as an influential leader to a team of skilled software engineers, systems engineers, in the Advanced Software team. This position will work in conjunction with multiple partners to provide strategic and tactical assistance in research and technology, development, operations, and operations innovations.

You will manage all aspects of ~8-10 individuals broken into operational software technology and automation and controls. This includes software equipment life cycle including defining requirements, implementation of standards, connectivity, support, and end of service. The scope of software includes LabView, .net, PLC (AB/Beckhoff).

This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her team as well as manage talent, expertise, and productivity.

The position reports to the Director of Engineering Services at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC).

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • This role focuses on development and technical escalation of solutions (electrical, mechanical, software) that are integrated into MECC manufacturing and information systems, and a portfolio of test systems deployed across the site.
  • Build and develop a highly engaged team and ensure the processes used to design, develop, integrate, deploy, and support custom equipment, tooling, and software solutions apply rigorous, Six Sigma engineering methods focused on our customers and patients.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
  • Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion, and rewards within own area. Activities include performance reviews and career-growth development of employees.
  • Recommends strategies, goals, and plans for a group. Will be key to create and implement strategies focused on cost effective solutions, reuse initiatives, obsolescence management, new technology capabilities, and increasing capacity for current and future manufacturing operational efficiencies.
  • Provides leadership and active engagement in cross functional improvement efforts with other leaders and subject matter experts across the matrix. Also develops long term relationships internally and externally to form strategic alliances.
  • Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within manufacturing software or electrical test domain with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial or leadership experience

Or

  • An advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial or leadership experience.

  • Expert proficiency in software development lifecycle management.
  • Foundational expertise with software programming.
  • High degree of self-motivation, independence, and time management skills.
  • Professional verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate challenging situations and resolve conflicts in a constructive and professional manner.
  • Labview Certification

  • Demonstrated history of active persuasion and influence to gain cooperation of internal customers, external customers, and vendors.
  • Track record of solving difficult multi-disciplinary technical problems.
  • Ability to attract, develop and retain top/diverse talent.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with an attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience such as a Green Belt certification or higher.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$168,800.00 - $253,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
