What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally be responsible for performing all aspects for complete designs of small and large electrical and instrumentation engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under general supervision.  

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Electrical Power Distribution Site Model Studies

  • Lead the electrical model study program ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform initial pre-studies to capture a comprehensive account of the current state of the power distribution system.
  • Establish priorities for equipment to be studied, aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Set and track goals and metrics to maintain progress.

Power Distribution Documentation and Modeling Support

  • Provide support for Engineering and maintenance for the power distribution system.
  • Conduct studies to support projects and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support of Cogen facility for NERC compliance.
  • Serve as a technical resource for questions related to power distribution, electrical standards, and TXO power infrastructure.

Area Classification Review Facilitation

  • Schedule and facilitate Electrical Area Classification reviews.
  • Engage cross functional teams and schedule meetings with committee members.
  • Drive effort to revise documentation, ensuring area classification of plant process areas consistent with regulatory requirements.

Power Engineering Site Expertise and Support

  • Serve as a technical resource for questions related to power distribution, electrical standards, and TXO power infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure best practices and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide engineering project assistance and documentation support.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts well.
  • Competency in electrical engineering concepts and theory.  General understanding of the application of power distribution, controls, and process instrumentation.
  • Strong commitment to personnel and process safety.
  • Ability to effectively self-manage a very demanding workload.
  • Strong Initiative.

  • Very service oriented and customer focused.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good judgment and discernment.
  • Knowledge and experience in design and specification in a variety of electrical and instrumentation engineering areas required including: Power Distribution, Electrical System Design, Grounding, Lighting, Motors
  • Good planning and organizing skills. Prior experience in an industrial or chemical plant setting. Familiarity with chemical plant operations and electrical codes and standards is a plus.
