As the Senior Manager of Data Protection & Privacy, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and confidentiality of our company’s data. We are seeking an experienced leader with a deep understanding of data protection laws, regulations, and best practices. If you are a strategic thinker, a strong communicator, and have a passion for safeguarding data, we want you on our team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee the first-line data protection program and provide guidance to all Segments to ensure consistent and effective implementation.
- Stay updated on the latest data protection laws, regulations, and best practices and make recommendations for necessary changes or updates.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data protection is integrated into all business processes and systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, and regulators to stay informed of industry standards and best practices.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data protection and privacy policies and procedures.
- Lead incident response efforts in the event of a data breach and implement remediation plans to prevent future incidents.
- Monitor data protection metrics and provide regular reports to senior management on the effectiveness of the data protection program.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies and trends in data protection and make recommendations for their implementation.
- Serve as a point of contact for any data protection inquiries or concerns from customers, regulators, or other stakeholders.
- Lead and manage a team of data protection professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of data protection within the organization.
- Collaborates with regulators, Second Line and Third Line to address issues with plausible action plans and target dates.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Audit, Compliance, Risk Management or Operational Risk.
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 4 additional years of segment-specific or risk-related experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of data protection regulations: a senior manager of data protection should have a deep understanding of data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA, to ensure the company’s compliance.
- Leadership and management skills: as a senior manager, this individual will be responsible for leading and managing a team of data protection professionals. therefore, they should possess strong leadership and management skills to effectively guide and motivate their team.
- Risk management expertise: with the increasing number of data breaches and cyber threats, the senior manager of data protection should have a strong understanding of risk management and be able to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Experience in the financial industry: a candidate with prior experience in data protection and security within the financial sector will be better equipped to address the unique challenges and regulations in this field.
- Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications and the ability to communicate and present requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with all businesses.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate through complex situations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence change, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Risk or Privacy certification (CISSP, CRISC, CIPP/US).
