Project Manager
As the Project Manager - Operations, you will be responsible for planning, developing, executing, and implementing a program of work that aligns with defined areas of accountability and targets, ensuring the successful delivery of capital and operational projects. This role primarily oversees all aspects of strategic projects and infrastructure developments to support productions and mining on an open pit mine site, with critical responsibility for managing dredging operations within the pit and tailings dam development. The successful candidate will apply strong operational, project management and environmental knowledge to oversee the strategic projects and infrastructure developments, while leading a team including managing contractors/vendors appointed by the Company, to optimise site development and environmental compliance.
Additionally, the Project Manager provides leadership and advice in the development of strategic objectives for Ravenswood Gold in the areas of tailings strategy, environment, power upgrades, and rehabilitation. This includes project management, technical support, and supervision during project phases to ensure that project designs meet operational requirements, specified engineering standards, deliverables and designated timeline. The role is instrumental in ensuring efficient infrastructure development, safe and compliant tailings dam development, and effective water management.
Key Responsibitlities
- Lead and manage surface development projects including site preparation, drainage, access roads, and pit expansions.
- Oversee dredging and tailings dam operations, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Manage tailings disposal, dam stability, and water quality monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and licensing requirements across all project activities.
- Develop and implement project schedules, budgets, and safety plans.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and cost performance; identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to project teams, contractors, and service providers.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to align project goals.
- Prepare and present reports on project status, compliance, and financial performance.
- Promote a positive safety and environmental culture, ensuring training and rehabilitation programs are in place.
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field (advanced qualifications highly regarded).
- 8–10 years’ experience in mining or heavy industry, with 5+ years in surface development, dredging, or tailings management.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role, managing complex infrastructure projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of surface development, dredging operations, and tailings management in open pit mining.
- Skilled in water management, environmental compliance, and tailings dam safety protocols.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot operational issues and apply strategic planning to improve site efficiency.
- Experienced in leading, coaching, and developing teams in high-performance environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
