Office of Disability Services - Graduate Student Worker

Job Description Summary

The Office of Disability Services is currently accepting applications for the position of ODS Graduate Student Worker.

The graduate student worker will work under the supervision of the Office of Disability Services to assist in the administration of institutional exams. Duties include administrative tasks, test proctoring, and interaction with examinees, faculty, and staff. Administrative duties include answering phones and emails, scanning, and copying, filing, maintaining testing schedule, and other clerical tasks as needed. Use of AIM, a technology resource that organizes communication for ODS is also an expectation of this role. The ODS graduate student worker will be trained to administer a variety of exams according to national testing standards to maintain integrity, security, and confidentiality of tests and examinees.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Check students in as they arrive at the testing center.
  • Maintain clean and quiet atmosphere for testing.
  • Assist in the distribution and collection of test materials.
  • Work with faculty to obtain materials and return them in a timely manner.
  • Actively proctor exams.
  • Implement testing rules and procedures.
  • Work with students who need special accommodation (extended time, enlarged text, testing software, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials.
  • Communicate any issue to Disability Services or designee.
  • Other duties and special projects deemed reasonable and necessary.

  • Previous proctoring or teaching experience desired, but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled as a graduate-level student at Florida Polytechnic University.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.  
  • For continuing students, must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and must be enrolled full-time.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

  • This position requires a criminal background check.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule for this position will be discussed with the assigned faculty, dependent upon the student’s class schedule. 

EXPECTED STARTING SALARY: $14.25 hourly.
