Job Title
Director , Business Development Financial InstitutionsVP, Business Development Financial Institutions – Africa Hunter (based in Nigeria or Kenya, reporting to Preashnie)
We are looking for a hunter to lead new business growth across key African markets, with primary responsibility for Nigeria and Kenya and broader opportunity across the continent. You will be the commercial lead for financial institutions, driving relationships, identifying opportunities and closing deals for solutions from Fiserv.
What you will do?
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of new opportunities with financial institutions (card issuers and merchant acquirers), mobile money providers and fintechs in Nigeria, Kenya and wider Africa to offer Fiserv solutions (with emphasis on issuer and acquirer processing and payment platform opportunities).
- Proactively source, qualify and advance opportunities through the full sales cycle, including RFx responses, solution demonstrations and executive-level pitches tailored to local market needs.
- Lead commercial and contract negotiations from qualification to signature, coordinating internal stakeholders (technology, delivery, legal, finance, compliance and operations) to ensure commercially and operationally sound proposals.
- Work closely with regulators, industry schemes and local payment infrastructures (for example central banks, national switches and mobile-money rails) to ensure proposals meet regulatory, compliance and data residency expectations.
- Build strategic, long-term relationships with banks, merchant acquirers, processors, telcos, system integrators, consulting firms and local implementation partners.
- Monitor local and regional market trends, competitive activity and regulatory developments to inform go-to-market strategy and product fit.
- Represent Fiserv at industry events and lead targeted business development activities across Nigeria, Kenya and other African markets as required.
- Coordinate with regional and global teams to secure implementation capacity, partner resources and delivery commitments aligned to client expectations.
What you will need to have?
- Proven experience in sales, business development or product management within payments or financial services, with a demonstrated track record of winning new business with issuers, acquirers or payment service providers.
- Direct experience operating in Nigeria and/or Kenya or the broader African payments ecosystem; demonstrated ability to navigate local market dynamics and stakeholder landscapes.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing complex, end-to-end sales cycles and RFx processes.
- Customer-centric mindset, resilient hunter attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Ability to travel across Nigeria, Kenya and other African markets as required and to work independently while partnering with regional and global teams.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and standard office productivity tools.
Preferred
- Knowledge of regional payment rails and products (for example instant payment switches, mobile money platforms) and familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting payments in Africa.
- Prior experience with issuer and acquirer processing platforms and integrations.
- Existing commercial relationships with banks, processors, telcos, fintechs or system integrators in Nigeria, Kenya or other African markets.
We are partners in possibility. If you are a results-driven payments hunter with regional expertise and the drive to grow Fiserv’s footprint across Africa, we want to hear from you.
