About the role:
CHANEL is seeking a visionary and transformative leader to shape and negotiate strategy with our Fragrance & Beauty Retailer partners to advance our collective priorities. The Senior Group Director, Commercial Development, will identify and negotiate opportunities with retailers to augment CHANEL’s market-share, retailer rank, and drive our client loyalty KPIs, while preserving and build brand equity in our commercial channels. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for crafting and executing CHANEL’s omnichannel distribution strategy across our Owned and Lease businesses; with a focus on building strategic partnerships and driving CHANEL’s position as a luxury leader in both digital and physical retail environments. You will lead a high performing team and will be a key voice in guiding and inspiring talents across the organization.

As Senior Group Director, Commercial Development, you will shape the future of CHANEL’s retail lease and owned businesses, driving innovation and operational excellence across all account touchpoints. - Negotiation & Influence: Build and execute sophisticated negotiation strategies to maximize partnership value, market-share, and brand impact. Cultivate trusted relationships with senior leaders, both internally and externally, to unlock strategic initiatives and drive consensus.
- Strategic Decision-Making: Leverage advanced analytics, market intelligence, and competitive insights to inform data-driven decisions. Anticipate trends, risks, and opportunities to ensure robust business performance and sustainable growth.
- Omnichannel Vision & Business Development: Architect and drive a holistic omnichannel strategy, identifying and capitalizing on new growth opportunities, evolving business models, and setting the long-term direction for CHANEL’s distribution. Promote innovative approaches to client engagement, digital transformation, and brand elevation.
- Visionary Leadership: Set a compelling vision for commercial development, championing CHANEL’s brand values and commercial priorities. Serve as a thought leader, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding teams through complex, ambiguous challenges.
- Risk Management & Problem Solving:
- Proactively identify risks and develop robust mitigation plans. Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills and resilience to address evolving business needs and operational challenges.
- Highest-level Collaboration:
- Represent CHANEL in senior-level negotiations and strategic forums, effectively communicating business priorities and influencing executive decision-makers.

What you will bring to the team:
- 10+ years’ experience in marketing, business development, merchant/buying role, digital marketing, or analytics & reporting
- Prior direct account management and negotiations experience
- Prior experience with data analysis, and high comfort level with senior-management level presentations both internally and externally
- Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills including retail math and proficiency with financial statements and modeling
- Independent thinker; ability to identify and present opportunities
- Digital Expertise a plus: site merchandising and understanding of digital tactics (direct load, affiliate, SEM, SEO, retargeting, display) and familiar with paid social KPI’s (CTR/CPM, Impressions, Reach, Engagement, LPR, CPC)
Position Logistics:
Bachelor'S Degree Required
- Based in New York City, this role is considered Hybrid: Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the designated location/office.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Ability to travel domestically for market weeks, as well as account headquarters and store visits 10-20 days annually
Compensation:
- The anticipated base salary range for this position is 175,000 through 200,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
