The Role

The Procurement & Sustainability Coordinator will support the procurement department, in sourcing, supplier management and embedding sustainable procurement practices. This role combines operational procurement with environmental responsibility, including gathering and evaluating carbon emissions data to support company reporting. 

The coordinator will also monitor sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s sustainability goals and will play a key role in tracking, reporting and advocating sustainable practices across the supply chain.

  • Salary: £30,797   
  • Location: On-site in Stockton (TS17 6EX)  
  • Hours: Mon-Fri (9-5pm)

What You'Ll Be Doing:

  • Support the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, supplier selection, and contract negotiation.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, serving as a point of contact for inquiries. Assist in evaluating supplier performance and addressing any issues related to service delivery.
  • Maintain detailed and organised procurement records, including supplier information, contract documentation, and performance reports. Ensure data is accurate and up to date in procurement systems. Track supplier compliance with sustainability standards/certification and work with suppliers to address any issues.
  • Support with gathering and evaluating carbon emissions data such as carbon emissions, waste reduction to support with company emissions reporting. 
  • Support with the coordination of environmental initiatives and preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with organisational policies and regulations, including ethical sourcing, sustainability guidelines and data protection requirements. Assist in identifying and mitigating risks associated with procurement and supplier relationships.
  • Support implementation of sustainable procurement that align with company sustainability objectives including Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in evaluating suppliers based on their environmental impact, sustainability certifications, and ethical practices. 
  • Identify opportunities to source goods and services from certified sustainable suppliers to reduce carbon footprint.
  • Manage procurement and sustainability queries using available CRM system according to KPIs.
  • Develop strong and positive relationships with internal teams to support sustainable procurement and help raise awareness within the organisation about sustainable procurement policies and benefits.
  • Any other ad hoc duties in line with delivery program requirements. 

What You'Ll Need:

  • Previous and/or relevant experience in procurement, sustainability, supply chain management, or administration, ideally within the not-for-profit or public sectors. 
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and work independently when needed.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ethical and responsible, with a focus on compliance and transparent procurement and sustainability practices.
  • Mission-driven, with a genuine commitment to supporting the organisation’s goals and values.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with sustainability certifications like ISO14001, FSC and Fair Trade. 
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or studying towards CIPS qualification. 
  • Knowledge and experience of the employability sector and local labour market. 
  • Experience or familiarity working with procurement software or databases and sustainability reporting tools.
