The Financial Aid Administrator ensures accurate and compliant processing of federal student aid applications in a fast-paced, rolling-admissions, clock-hour environment. This position is responsible for verifying student FAFSA data, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with all applicable federal regulations, including Title IV requirements. The Specialist works closely with students, parents, and internal staff to complete verification efficiently, ensuring timely resolution of requirements while upholding the institution’s standards for accuracy, integrity, and service.
Responsibilities
- Review FAFSA applications, including document collection, budgeting, awarding, FAFSA verification, and loan certification for Institutional TIV programs.
- Review and assess eligibility of applications and exercise professional judgement to allocate funds to students accordingly.
- Award financial aid packages based on eligibility and available funding.
- Assist potential students with various functions required to apply for TIV – FSA ID, FAFSA Completion, Direct Loan requirements, etc.
- Stay updated on changes in federal and state regulations, ensuring that all aid processing adheres to current guidelines.
- Review, dissect and analyze federal forms such as 1040 (and all schedules) W-2’s, 1099, IT-201, 1098, IRA, Pensions and other income sources.
- Provide Entrance and Exit Counseling to students promoting responsible borrowing.
- Collaborate with other departments to support student success.
- Generate, interpret, analyze and utilize NSLDS, COD, ED Express, and ATIS reports. Updating internal Institutional software and FAM system.
- Conduct thorough file reviews for existing Title IV recipients at designated timelines.
Qualifications
- BA preferred, Diploma required
- Minimum 4 years successful experience in higher education financial aid or 2 years successful experience in management in higher education financial aid..
- Certifications
- Regulatory Knowledge – Proficient in Title IV regulations, including 34 CFR 668 Subpart E (Verification), Pell Grant, and Direct Loan program requirements.
- FSA Fundamentals, NASFAA Verification Credentials
- CFA preferred not required
