We are looking for an Associate Director for our Support to DSM Operations. We call it “Operations Support Leader”. This is a pivotal role tasked with providing strategic direction and operational guidance for the Operations Support Team, covering one of three value streams.
Acting as a strategic anchor, operational coach, and cross-functional integrator, this position ensures production robustness and alignment with corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Direction:
- Develop a vision and priorities for the Operations Support Team, guiding all task areas.
- Lead strategy deployment and set clear success measures, ensuring alignment with site and corporate objectives.
Support 24/7 Production:
- Establish a framework for production support, ensuring operational stability at all hours.
- Coordinate with shift teams to maintain seamless operations, addressing issues promptly.
- Implement systems and processes to manage and resolve emergencies effectively, minimizing downtime.
- Responsibility for solid support on plan adherence
- Ownership of the value stream’s ability to process PRs on time, hereunder safeguard solid containments and effective countermeasures.
Operational Coaching:
- Actively participate in team activities to model expected behaviors and practices.
- Mentor the Manufacturing Engineers/Support Associates in decision-making, particularly when under pressure.
Cross-Functional Integration:
- Enhance collaboration between Manufacturing, Operations Control Center (OCC), Engineering, Automation, Quality, Process Science and Program Management.
- Serve as the escalation and decision point for complex issues, ensuring cross-functional alignment.
Data-Driven Leadership:
- Oversee the creation of the “Control Tower” – live data dashboards to monitor adherence, quality, and event resolutions.
- Translate data insights into actionable priorities, driving continuous improvement across teams.
Additional Responsibilities Derived from Team Focus:
- Guide Manufacturing Engineers/Support Associates in their daily support roles and ensure they step in effectively to resolve production issues.
- Ensure quality ownership and support compliance through timely data capture and delivery.
- Coach team members on data analysis to identify patterns and root causes, supporting practical improvements.
- Represent the manufacturing area during audits, customer visits and regulatory inspections, ensuring consistent and clear responses.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with over five years of leadership experience, ideally with a background in the pharmaceutical industry. The candidate has extensive experience in manufacturing leadership, showcasing strategic thinking and data-driven problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities are essential, along with proficiency in handling multiple priorities while ensuring adherence to strategic plans. Additionally, deep technical knowledge of high-level processes and equipment, as well as a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and GMP, are crucial for this role.
The Team
Take part in an exciting and ambitious journey in Drug Substance Manufacturing Operations including three value streams (DSM 1, 2 & 3) with 24/7 production! You will be joining and leading one of three newly established Operations Support Teams, consisting of Manufacturing Engineers, Support Associates and Project Leads. While reporting to a Value Stream Director, your close collaboration expands to our Production Leaders (one for each shift rotation).
