We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Quality Engineer / Sr. Principal Quality Engineer based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to join our Vendor Material Disposition Area (VMDA). 

What You'Ll Get To Do:

A Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials products, focusing on defect minimization and process improvement.

  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
  • Solid written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.

Basic Qualifications Principal Quality Engineer:

  • Principal Quality Engineer: Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in quality; OR a minimum of 3 years in quality with a Master's degree in a related STEM field; 1 year with a PhD.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues.
  • Experience with SAP, ISE, and/or CADSTAR.
  • Experience with dispositioning nonconforming material reports.
  • Experience working with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications (IPC, J-STD, MIL-STD).
  • The ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance
  • US citizenship required.

Basic Qualifications Sr. Principal Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in quality; OR a minimum of 6 years in quality with a Master's degree in a related STEM field; 4 Years with a PhD.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues.
  • Experience with SAP, ISE, and/or CADSTAR.
  • Experience with dispositioning nonconforming material reports.
  • Experience working with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications (IPC, J-STD, MIL-STD).
  • The ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance
  • US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications Principal Quality Engineer / Sr. Principal Quality Engineer:

  • Experience working with manufacturing.
  • Experience with the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Experience with interpreting and presenting quality metrics.
  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six Sigma.
  • The ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

Manums

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $119,200.00 - $178,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
