The Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer to contribute to our leading SaaS platform. We power customer referral programs for hundreds of brands and have recently introduced an exciting Influencer Management product already adopted by notable brands. Our world-class programmes have delivered more than 6 million referrals totalling $2 billion in revenue for 500+ brands around the globe. You will be working with other Senior Engineers, Data Engineers, Product Managers and our Data Science team to build features that will delight our customers.

We empower engineers to work with other experts across the business to find the solutions that accelerate the value of referral and influencers for our clients. We do this through the INSPIRED product process where small, multi-disciplinary teams of product managers, designers and engineers build products that move us towards our vision of scaling up through product led growth.

This role will be focused on our backend system (Symfony, PHP) and our data products  (BigQuery, DBT, Airflow), but there will be opportunities to work across the platform including, agentic AI (Python, Langchain), frontend (React, TypeScript), the APIs (GraphQL, REST), our integration tool of choice (Tray.ai) and all the other tools and technologies that keep everything humming. You don't need to be an expert in everything - you'll be working with a talented team of engineers, each with their own strengths and expertise and we work together to support each other.

Requirements

We’re looking for an enthusiastic software engineer who possesses strong expertise in PHP development (or similar) and data, ideally with a proven ability in data engineering concepts and tooling, and keen to help figure out the solutions for how we make our product fantastic. Our challenges are not just rooted in code, but in the complexity of referral and influencer marketing and how that maps to the goals of our clients. We process hundreds of millions of events and webhooks each month and need someone who can think at scale.

On a typical day, you'll be working towards one of our company goals - for instance building new consumer APIs, creating a data pipeline for a new report, doing a POC for a new marketing automation integration with one of our partners or working with our data scientists on cutting edge AI products. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be driving technical best practices within the team and contributing to architectural decisions for backend and data systems.

Essentials

Our list of essentials below is short, and we're looking for someone who can see themselves being successful in the role described above:

• Minimum 5+ years experience with PHP (or another object oriented language) in a commercial, agile software delivery, environment
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases
• Demonstrable experience with data concepts and tools, e.g. BigQuery
• Desire to put the user first - not the technology
• Good written and verbal skills - particularly with non-technical people regarding technical subjects
• Experience using git, GitHub and continuous integration (or equivalent technologies)
• Working within a multi-disciplinary product team, and experience working closely with product managers and designers to define, measure and achieve product success
• Have the right to work in the UK

Bonus

We'd love to see a candidate who can demonstrate experience in the following, but we do not consider them essential:

• Building within a production-strength SaaS platform based on best practice architectures, providing high availability (last year we had 99.97% uptime)
• Experience building and managing data transformations using DBT (Data Build Tool)
• Ability to work across our stack - experience in JavaScript, React, TypeScript would be a plus
• Tray.ai - The platform we use to build and scale our suite of integrations
• Experience integrating with platforms across Webhooks, REST APIs, SOAP APIs and more.
• GraphQL, MySQL, and the AWS stack or other equivalent technologies
• Designing with a security-first approach
• Have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or a related discipline
