The Global Network Services (“GNS”) business establishes relationships with banks and other institutions that issue cards and acquire local merchants onto the American Express network in many countries & territories around the globe.
The Finance Director for North America GNS is an exciting and dynamic opportunity within the Finance organization. As the finance lead supporting the NA regional GNS GM, they will play a critical role in decision support, partner deal analysis, financial planning, investment optimization, and P&L management.
The successful candidate will actively engage business partners and provide leadership across financial decisions, P&L management, and market-related analysis and insights. Further, by leveraging their financial knowledge, they will help formulate strategies and make recommendations on how to best drive profitable growth with a high degree of independence.
Responsibilities:
- Business Decision Support: Partners closely with the NA GNS GM, along with other key stakeholders across the organization, to support decisions that drive efficient and profitable growth across our Global Network Partnerships North America and Prepaid businesses.
- Deal Negotiations: Interfaces across teams to develop the business case, financial metrics, sensitivities, and other strategic insights to support bank partner and co-brand deals.
- Annual Planning / Investment Process: Drives business forecasting and investment processes for the NA business by gathering firsthand input from business partners to accurately project business performance / investments based on current trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Results Analysis & Reporting: Provides detailed analysis and supporting commentary on volume & P&L trends / variances in partnership with the Forecasting Planning & Analytics and Controllership teams.
- Strategic Planning: Develops a longer-term financial picture of GNS NA to influence the strategic direction of the business.
- People Leadership: Leads and mentors a team of 3 finance professionals located in NY.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Analytical & strategic thinking: Strong aptitude for analytics. Demonstrated ability to develop financial models and draw value-add insights from large amounts of financial data. Solid ability to adopt a broad perspective and link business strategies to specific initiatives. Coding experience to drive data analytics is a plus.
- Team leadership: Proven ability to attract and develop talent, providing thought leadership on priorities, and building a culture of open feedback.
- Communication: Superior ability to communicate with and influence at all levels of the organization. Capable of translating complex information into digestible takeaways and demonstrating executive presence.
- Relationship building: Ability to build strong working relationships to maximize collaboration, problem solving and generate solutions that deliver results.
- Results driven: Ability to work under pressure, navigate through ambiguity, and balance multiple priorities.
- Continuous improvement mindset: Build, maintain and oversee a team that focuses on continuous process improvement and an intense focus on driving change in the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
- 5+ years of work experience

Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
