As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank's Equities Technology team, you will be an integral part of the Derivatives Trade Management suite of applications. You will work on various components that serve as data providers to Regulatory, Collateral, Accounting, and Settlement systems, and also cater to ad-hoc reporting needs. This role offers the opportunity to develop solutions for real-time messaging and end-of-day bulk reporting, utilizing Java, Sybase, and Kafka. You will contribute to designing and building new solutions and enhance existing code with a strong focus on stability and resiliency. A deep understanding of the business functionality run by the application is essential.

Job Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Experience in Java, SpringBoot, Kafka, Linux, TDD (Junit, Mockito), build tools (Maven/Gradle)
• Familiarity with AWS/Kubernetes is crucial, including services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EventBridge, MSK, and more. 
• Experience with designing and implementing microservices 
• Strong object-oriented design skills with a good understanding of object modeling and design patterns.
• Relational database experience; ideally Sybase/SQL.
• Proactive, delivery-focused, with strong experience in Agile programming.
• Ability to solve complex problems and a proven track record of high performance and delivery.
• Open to new and different technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

 Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience working in financial services, preferably in a Trade Management setup.
• Understanding of equity/credit derivatives trading, products, etc.
• Experience working on AWS.
• Aspiration to learn the Derivatives domain and technology.
• Knowledge of Common Domain Model (CDM) is a good-to-have skill
