The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Assistant Director, Athletics Live Event Production. This is a full-time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant Director, Athletics Live Event Production is responsible for coordinating the BTN Student U program, as well as supporting the management of live event production, and enhancing the image of The University of Iowa Athletic Department.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic arts, design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; 
  • One (1) year of experience and extensive knowledge and ability to manage live sports broadcasts in an intercollegiate athletics setting, including:  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; 
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships; including working collaboratively with other external relations staff (e.g. marketing, athletic communications, graphics) on group projects; 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with a wide variety of constituents, both internal and external to the university setting, e.g. central campus, media personnel, patrons and vendors; 
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards; 
  • Ability to move and load 50 pounds.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program; 
  • Experience and working knowledge of video production utilizing professional-grade cameras and editing equipment, including a basic understanding of video routing systems and broadcast studio production; 
  • Ability to coordinate and stream multiple live events simultaneously; 
  • One year of supervisory experience; 
  • Working knowledge of and ability to: 
  • Produce and manage a multiple camera live streaming production crew for an athletic event;  
  • Direct multiple camera live productions; 
  • Produce and edit videos, both in studio and on location, utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent-please specify software used). 
  • Utilize content management programs to deliver content to social media platforms. 
  • utilize Adobe Creative Suite and Ross Systems (or equivalent);  
  • troubleshoot basic IT and live video streaming issues; 
  • instruct others in basic shooting and editing techniques; 
  • experience with online video sharing platforms, YouTube, Live U etc.; 
  • experience with control room audio boards, replay systems, graphics programs, and control room routing.
