Position Description
Performs technical work involving the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electronic security systems and related low-voltage equipment. This includes access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance (CCTV), intercom systems, and other associated technologies. Work involves regular coordination with internal departments as well as external vendors and contractors to ensure security systems are implemented efficiently and effectively. Employees at this level work independently, demonstrates strong technical expertise, and exercises sound judgment in all aspects of the job.
Essential Duties:
- Installs, maintains, and inspects electronics security equipment and systems including those related to communications, cameras, lighting, sound, or security access control equipment.
- Trains users of security equipment after repair and/or installation
- Installs electronic security systems including access control, intrusion alarms, CCTV, intercoms and door/ gate entry systems.
- Performs set up of network-enabled devices such as IP cameras and door controllers
- Programs control panels, NVR/DVR units, and software applications to meet customer requirements
- Configures system settings, permissions, schedules, and alarms for optimal performance.
- Performs routine system inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnoses and repairs system malfunctions, wiring faults, and component failures
- Responds to service calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Conducts functional and acceptance testing of installed systems.
- Works with vendors and contractors to source components and support complex installations.
- Reviews drawings and schematics for compliance to industry standards.
- Conducts physical and environmental assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience: 3 years of experience in electronic security systems equipment installation and repair or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Licenses And Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in access control and video surveillance security systems.
