What’S The Role?

You’ll be leading the charge on merchant risk and collections across Westpac’s Merchant Acquiring portfolio, shaping strategy, driving performance, and making sure we’re ahead of the curve in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment. This is a senior leadership role where you’ll own the end-to-end risk and collections capability, influence across the value chain, and represent Westpac at industry forums to elevate our risk practices.

You’ll manage a high-performing team, working closely with partners in distribution, marketing, risk, tech, and operations. Your focus will be delivering sustainable outcomes, protecting shareholder value, and ensuring our products meet the highest standards of compliance, innovation, and customer advocacy.

This is a full-time, Sydney-based role working from both Paramatta and CBD locations. You’ll report to the Head of Merchant Acquiring and lead a team of nine direct reports.

What do I need?

We’re looking for an experienced Executive Manager in Merchant Risk, Accreditation, Underwriting or Compliance. You’ll bring:

• Deep experience in risk and collections management, ideally within financial services or retail.
• Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to manage budgets, interpret analytics, and deliver strategic outcomes.
• Exceptional leadership skills and ability to know how to coach, inspire, and get the best out of diverse teams.
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across functions and drive outcomes without direct ownership.
• A solid understanding of regulatory frameworks, compliance, and industry best practices.
