Job Summary:

Emerson South Africa is seeking the services of a Logistics coordinator to form part of the Discrete Automation business unit. This job is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and will be responsible for the Logistics and Expediting functions for Sub Saharan Africa and other regions when needed. Responsible for all logistics and support on all expediting activities for the Discrete Automation Business in the region. The incumbent will work across the portfolios of ASCO, AVENTICS, TOPWORX, TESCOM, PLC SCADA products and solutions. Also, other products when required.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake responsibilities to support operations for the warehouse & logistics activities
  • Complete the necessary documentation and communicate to the appropriate personnel when returns, exchanges or credits are required
  • Direct domestic and international shipping documents, such as sales orders, certificates of origin, bills of lading, and invoices, to ensure timely delivery.
  • Work in Close collaboration with Customer Service, Procurement, Sales, Production team, Customers and Finance teams.
  • Perform designated logistics activities with a clear understanding of Inco-terms and its implications from start to the end, i.e. from the point of collection to the point of delivery for all shipments from various suppliers around the world.
  • Once goods made available, reserving received/available items/products in ERP system against Customer orders.
  • Shipping releases / Shipping documents with quality and excellence, from the ORIGIN or EMERSON DXB office as applicable, must be arranged in accordance with the custom rules prevailing at the country of destination. Attention must be paid to avoid any probabilities of custom deposits / demurrage / storage etc.
  • Closely coordinate with the Trade Compliance team (Import and Export) for regulations to ensure adherence to trade laws
  • Booking shipments, Preparation of COO and attested documents based on the Customer and destination requirements.
  • Adhere to local and international Emerson trade compliance procedures in connection with all transactions and business practices
  • Engage in internal meetings, advocating for the warehouse & logistics standard methodologies
  • Ensure all shipments happen through the most efficient and timely manner adhering to Emerson Corporate logistics process and procedures and compliance norms
  • Work closely with freight forwarders and customs / Govt. officials for permits & documentations needed for all shipments
  • Keep a record for customs for all FLMC related Bill of Entry
  • Work closely with the warehouse team for all inbound or outbound shipments
  • Any other functions as deemed necessary by your supervisor from time to time
  • Make sure you align with Ethics, Trade Compliance, Quality Assurance, and Health & Safety policies; ensure that Business meets Emerson Policies and local Legislation. Promote a positive Company image
  • Adhere to Health, Safety & Environment policies as laid by the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5+ years in a warehouse & logistics role
  • Solid computer skills, Microsoft Outlook & Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be proficient in English
  • Strong experience with ability to understand customer(s) and the Emerson business environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Warehouse/Logistics qualification with ERP (Oracle preferred) system experience.
  • 5-10 years’ Experience
