Maintenance Tech - Facilities - Full Time

Position Summary: Under the direction of a supervisor or his/her designees, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of maintenance and engineering duties including maintaining, repairing, operating, and renovating plant and facilities for the Facilities Department.  Incumbent is guided by a basic knowledge of building trades, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical repairs, plant maintenance methods, techniques and procedures, operation and use of department equipment and supplies.  The Maintenance Technician works with the Supervisor, Building Services, who may provide general daily work assignments and oversight of tasks performed.

Education, License & Cert: High school diploma required. Driver’s License

Experience:

1. Two (2) years of trade school required or five (5) years’ comparable related experience.
2. Demonstrated skills in one trade and basic understanding of other trades acquired through on‐the‐job training.
3. Ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated detailed instructions in writing and orally.
4. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations is required.
5. Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines is required.
6. Must have knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards, i.e. Right‐to‐Know, Lock‐Out Tag‐Out, ladder safety, and other standards that may apply.
7. Performs a variety of other semi‐skilled and skilled work in various crafts such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, wall repair, flooring repair, electrical work, sheet metal work, masonry, machinist work, etc.
8. Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs, installs, and diagnoses malfunction of HVAC equipment, sterilizers, dietary equipment, sprinkler and standpipe systems, electrical systems and other plant and specialty equipment.
9. 3. Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs equipment, systems and facilities related to any craft or combination of same, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment in a clean safe operating condition in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as department policy.
10. Assists in making decisions on all normal and minor repairs and reports major problems to the Supervisor, Building Services.

The pay for this position ranges from $19.12-$29.85 per hour.
