Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Analyst, Trade supports Global Trade Compliance in developing, implementing, and continuously improving Coherent’s global trade compliance program. The focus of this role is to ensure compliance with applicable export controls and review transactions for compliance with U.S. export control laws and Coherent policies. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience at an U.S. headquartered global company with direct experience reviewing transactions
Education & Experience
Education
- Understanding of export laws and regulations including Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
- Associate degree in a related field required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- 3+ years’ experience working in an U.S. headquartered, global corporation
Restricted Party Screening and Order Review (75%)
- Review orders in Oracle and other applicable corporate systems to ensure all transactions have been screened and potential matches to restricted parties are fully resolved
- Validate all transaction products have an up-to-date jurisdiction and classification determination
- Conduct review of end use documentation for completeness and compliance with corporate guidance
- Perform additional diligence as warranted to identify potential prohibited end uses
- Perform assessments of potential diversion risks pursuant to regulator and corporate guidance
- Apply defined risk criteria to transactions to identify and address compliance risks
- Review technology transfers to third parties such as suppliers and customers as directed
- Prepare escalation reporting for senior leadership for high-risk transactions
Classification (25%)
- Support export jurisdiction classification determinations
- Assisting in the broader development of a jurisdiction & classification program at Coherent Corp for Export Administration Regulation (EAR) controlled items
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of international trade regulations including the EAR
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form
- Individual must possess strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Customer service oriented with both internal and external customers
- Individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office products & a PC based environment
- Understanding of each country and U.S. government licensing systems
- Experience with Restricted Party Screening systems
- Interact and communicate effectively with others and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- ISO 9001 or similar quality experience preferred
