The Head of People & Culture performs duties at the professional level in all the following functional areas:
- HR Strategy
- Policy development and implementation
- Performance Management
- Employee relations, training
- Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Onboarding
- Benefits Management
- Employment law compliance and payroll functions
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver ActionAid Hellas’ long-term HR strategy, ensuring all policies and practices are aligned with the organisation’s mission, values, and international standards.
- Lead initiatives that promote a learning culture, employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity, equity & inclusion.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, and exit processes.
- Provide coaching and support to line managers on people-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with Greek labour law and ActionAid International frameworks.
- Lead, inspire, and develop the People & Culture team, fostering accountability and continuous learning.
This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The Head of People & Culture must be sensitive to employee morale and organizational needs and will work closely with the Managing Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or Business Administration, or Psychology or relevant field.
- Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or relevant field. Other professional trainings and certifications will be considered a plus.
- Excellent command of the Greek and English languages (speaking and writing).
- Proven track record of at least 7-10 years’ as a Senior HR professional.
- Experience in a non-profit organization will be considered a plus.
- Working knowledge of local existing and proposed laws/regulations affecting human resources management. Ability to interpret appropriate laws and policies and ability to advise management and employees accordingly.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
- Computer proficiency. Excellent knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and knowledge of HR information systems.
- Proven organizational and management ability.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and always within schedule and budget.
- Proven ability to motivate, administer and manage staff working in diverse human resources functions.
- Decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to implement crisis management plans .
