We are seeking a Senior Product Designer with strong commercial product design experience to help us with the next wave of web experiences. For this role we’re looking for a leader with both strong design skills and strategic thinking; you should have superb visual and interaction design skills and be comfortable with ambiguity involved in inventing v1 experiences and working across internal organizations. You will partner with other designers and influence teams with concepts, prototypes, and evangelize new customer experiences, working across organizations to ensure design coherence to our framework and to create beautiful, inclusive, and accessible experiences that customers love.  

You’ll be at the forefront of defining the next wave of the Edge browser, shaping core browser features deeply integrated with cutting-edge AI for our commercial customers. This is a hybrid role, 4x a week onsite in Redmond WA

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to design’s direction for area of accountability and executes design set by others 
  • Leads design on a product with moderate to high visibility, risk, and/or complexity 
  • Contributes to development of junior talent as a mentor, onboarding buddyor coach, and sets the standard for excellent design  
  • Holds bar for craft across design, PM and Engineering within a major product area  
  • Contributes and partners with other major area leaders to ensure product coherence, erasing organizational boundaries from the experience 
  • Embrace and lead across all of our culture models (e.g., demonstrates customer obsession) 
  • Contributes to broader MAI team culture (e.g., mentorship, team morale, ERGs/clubs) 
  • Understands and acts upon their role in creating an inclusive workplace at Microsoft  
  • Balances actively working on the details and finding time to step back to look at the bigger picture of the product  
  • Crafts a story around the WHAT, WHY and HOW for their ideas, while demonstrating via work rather than just words 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
  • 5+ years experience working in product design with cross-functional teams in an agile development environment
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated sense of interaction design attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including accessibility and inclusive designs
  • Strong visual design skills 
  • Excellent communication and presentation / storytelling skills, with the ability to energize teams, articulate design decisions and rationaleadvocate for your ideas and iterate on feedback
  • Experience with stakeholder management 
  • Fluency designing in Figma
  • Portfolio (with password) required for this position

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
