About The Team

This position is within the School of Agricultural Sciences (College of Environmental and Life Sciences). Collaboration with relevant research Centres is strongly encouraged, and this collaboration is an important enabler of School and University strategic plans. Your New Role!

As an Associate Professor or Professor in Veterinary Biochemistry and Nutrition, you will contribute to the School’s teaching, research, and engagement activities. You will design and deliver curriculum, supervise students, and build strong links with industry and external partners. Both roles require a strong record of academic achievement, high-quality research with national and international impact, and active involvement in academic governance and service.

Associate Professor (Level D), you will demonstrate a sustained record of research success, mentor early career researchers, and play a leadership role in teaching and administration.

Professor (Level E), you will provide substantial academic leadership, lead research teams, mentor both early- and mid-career staff, and drive the School’s strategic direction in teaching, research and external engagement.

Your key responsibilities will include –

  • Make substantial contributions to teaching, including curriculum design, delivery, assessment, fieldwork, curriculum review, and use of innovative teaching methods
  • Conduct high-quality research, including quality research publications and success in competitive grant activity, both individually and as part of a team
  • Supervise and advise students across undergraduate, honours, postgraduate, and HDR levels, and engage with industry and external stakeholders to build strategic partnerships

Associate Professor (Level D)

  • Take a leadership role in mentoring early- and mid-career staff and contribute to the development of teaching and administrative initiatives
  • Make substantial contribution to service at the discipline, College, and University level, including administrative, planning, and committee work

Professor (Level E)

  • Offer strategic leadership across teaching, research, and engagement including leading research teams and major academic initiatives
  • Mentor both early- and mid-career academic and research staff, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the discipline and the School

This Continuous| Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $162,927 to $179,313 (pro rata) at Level D and $209,366 (pro rata) at level E plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • PhD in an area relevant to the appointment
  • Extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including curriculum design and delivery
  • Proven research track record with national/international impact including success in securing competitive grants and high quality research outputs
  • Strong track record of supervising postgraduate/HDR students and mentoring early/mid-career researchers
  • Effective collaboration, leadership, and communication, contributions to university roles

Additional Criteria for Level E, Professor position

  • Experience in leading and designing academic programs of study
