About The Role:
In this role, you will serve as the CEO’s dedicated Mandarin–English interpreter and translator for high-stakes meetings, executive communications, and global engagements. This role requires exceptional language mastery, cultural fluency, and absolute discretion to enable seamless communication with internal leaders, partners, clients, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Real-time interpretation (simultaneous, consecutive, and whisper/chuchotage) for the CEO during executive meetings, board/leadership reviews, media/partner interviews, investor and customer calls, site visits, and public events.
- Written translation of executive documents: emails, memos, speeches, contracts/NDAs, presentations, technical/product briefs, policy documents, and press materials; ensure plain-English readability and culturally appropriate tone.
- Executive communications support: draft and refine bilingual talking points, remarks, and Q&A; align messaging with company strategy and brand voice.
- Cultural and business advisory: brief the CEO on cultural norms, negotiation styles, and protocol; flag nuance, idioms, and risk areas to avoid misinterpretation.
- Meeting preparation & follow-through: pre-read materials, prepare bilingual glossaries/briefs, confirm terminology with subject-matter experts, and summarize key takeaways and action items post-meeting.
- Terminology management: build and maintain living glossaries for industry, legal, finance, and technical terms; drive consistency across regions/business units.
- Confidential information handling: safeguard privileged content, control distribution of materials, and ensure secure storage per company policy.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Chinese comprehension and native or near-native English speaking ability.
- Deep understanding of Chinese culture and business communication norms.
- Proven interpretation experience, ideally in corporate and/or technology environments.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality with a demonstrated track record of handling sensitive information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation/Interpretation, Linguistics, International Relations, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated mastery of simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in high-pressure, executive settings.
- Superior written English: ability to translate into crisp, executive-level business prose.
- Working knowledge of business/financial, legal, and technology terminology; ability to ramp on new subject matter quickly.
- Strong note-taking, memory, and attention to detail; ability to maintain accuracy over long sessions.
- Flexibility for early/late meetings aligned to China time zones; ability to travel up to 10%
- Proficiency with productivity tools (Microsoft 365/Google Workspace); familiarity with CAT tools is a plus.
