About The Role
Sellers Dorsey is seeking an Associate Director of Accounting who will provide leadership and expertise across accounting and finance, with responsibilities spanning day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit, tax, and system/process improvements. As the Associate Director of Accounting, you will contribute to strengthening internal controls, supporting scalability, and mentoring staff within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AR, AP, and general ledger maintenance, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with policies and controls.
- Lead the month/year end close process, including review of revenue recognition, account reconciliations, performance vs. budget analysis, and updates to expense schedules and projections. Ensure timely preparation of accurate financial reports.
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP and assist with research and implementation of new GAAP pronouncements.
- Contribute to the annual budget process, including preparation, analysis, and collaboration with Finance.
- Assist with quarterly commission process and calculations, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors on the annual financial statement and 401(k) audits and provide documentation for annual tax return preparation.
- Lead and participate in NetSuite enhancements, optimization, and system control initiatives to improve automation, reporting, and overall efficiency.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls, improve efficiency, and support scalability. Participate in the development of the accounting department’s SOP library.
- Lead or support additional projects and cross-functional initiatives to drive organizational growth and achieve financial objectives.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Master’s Degree or certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus; continuing professional education (CPE) expected. Please note that equivalent years of relevant Exempt work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and month/year-end close.
- Proven supervisory and leadership experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with account reconciliations, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
- NetSuite ERP experience a plus.
- Concur experience a plus.
- Experience developing and implementing accounting policies, internal controls, and SOPs.
- Knowledge of M&A accounting and integration a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting staff.
- Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management, staff, and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise required).
- Familiarity with audit coordination, tax support, and system optimization.

Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for candidates is $115,900/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $130,000/year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 10% of annual salary.
Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements. Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need.
