Gene Expression Post Doc Scientist 

         

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

We are seeking a Scientist to join the Crop Science Plant Biotechnology team. This two-year position will be focused on inducible gene expression and synthetic genetic circuits. This scientist will be part of an interdisciplinary team with expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and data science.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Gene Expression Post Doctoral Scientist, are to: 

  • Design, execute, analyze, and interpret molecular biology experiments with the aim of testing and understanding gene expression regulatory elements;
  • Understand, validate, and extend discoveries from other systems (including model plants and mammalian systems) in crops;
  • Apply statistical methods to results;
  • Collaborate with fellow research scientists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, and mathematicians on prediction methods;
  • Provide written reports of results and methods and present results to broad R&D research partners;
  • Train and work alongside fellow post-docs and employees in a team that spans the Crop Science and Pharmaceuticals divisions in both the USA and Europe;
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices.

Who You Are

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (defended by 12/15/25) in molecular biology, cell biology, or similar, with an excellent track record of productivity;
  • Demonstrated record of innovation in research;
  • Strong molecular biology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyze data;
  • Previous hands-on experience with gene expression experiments;
  • Track record of working independently as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, capacity for analytical thinking and creativity, as well as enthusiasm for hands-on bench work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with gene expression research in plants.

Relocation may be offered for this role.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $86,394.40 to $129,591.60. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
