Job Title: Finance and Accounting Co-op
Reporting directly to the Program Manager, Business Systems or their designate, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance and Accounting Co-op to join our team. This co-op provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, accounting, and reporting while working closely with experienced finance professionals. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has strong analytical skills, and possesses a basic understanding of financial principles.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Accounts Payable/Accounts Payable
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable team and processes.
- Create a detailed report outlining travel expenses to aid in bank reconciliation processes.
- Use financial software and tools for data entry and analysis.
- Track outstanding receivables and follow up on payments.
- Maintain vendor relations and verify banking information over the phone.
- Help reconcile accounts and process invoices and payments or expense reports.
Quarterly and Month-End Filings
- Support monthly and quarterly financial statement filing
- Analyze and reconcile all variances in invoicing, purchase orders and foreign exchange.
- Analyze and reconcile all intercompany transactions that occur between entities.
- Prepare monthly accruals based on reports from other departments.
Administrative Tasks and Projects
- Maintain Skeena Finance SharePoint page, updated to reflect changes in procedure or policy, new team members or structures and information for the entire company to reference.
- Aid in preparing monthly and quarterly checklists for control/audit purposes and ensure all preparation/completion dates and required tasks are correctly recorded.
- Provide administrative support to finance and accounting departments as needed.
- Maintain and organize financial records and documents.
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of financial data.
- Participate in ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required.
- All other duties as reasonably assigned
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
- Currently in third year or above, or recently completed a degree in, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Experience / Skills
- Basic knowledge of financial principles and accounting concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools.
- Experience with ERP systems, specifically Pronto, would be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
- Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others
Work Location & Conditions
This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.
Depending on business needs and circumstances, this internship will run from January – May 2026.
Compensation
The expected hourly range for this position is CAD $20-24/hour in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Hourly ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
