About the role | Mō te tūranga

We are currently looking for a motivated, dynamic self-starter to join the Fraud and Scams Monitoring team within Rabobank’s Fraud & FEC Investigations - RANZ function.

Reporting to the Fraud & Scams Monitoring Lead RANZ, the Fraud & Scams Monitoring Analyst will be part of the team responsible for managing external fraud and scam risk, by ensuring fraud scenarios and rules are optimised, transaction data is analysed to identify potentially fraudulent activity and fraud investigated and managed appropriately and effectively.

This role is an operational Line 1 role, covering detection, investigations, response, monitoring, and reporting. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Top Role Accountabilities

This role will be responsible for the following key activities within Rabobank’s fraud risk management framework, helping to safeguard the Bank from external fraud risks:

  • Analysing internal and externally generated data to identify potentially fraudulent behaviour and emerging threats or trends that may be useful to the Bank to mitigate fraud risk
  • Investigating and responding to scam incidents
  • Investigating fraud alerts generated and other external fraud events
  • Analysing relevant data to identify potentially fraudulent transactions or behaviour and emerging threats or trends that may be useful to the Bank to mitigate fraud risk
  • Performing post investigation activities, including loss assessments and recoveries
  • Identifying and supporting vulnerable customers through the scam management lifecycle

Note that this role may be required to provide out of hours support to our clients during evening and weekends. This will be capped as per Industrial Relations legislation.

  • 1-3 years in a similar role within fraud operations/risk management.
  • Skilled in reviewing transaction and login data to identify and flag potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Experienced in triaging fraud alerts, conducting investigations, escalating cases, and reporting incidents with accuracy and urgency.
  • Confident communicator, engaging with clients via phone and email to gather relevant details during investigations.
  • Analytical thinker with experience supporting product, process, and system updates through fraud risk assessments.
  • Process-oriented, with a focus on developing and maintaining efficient team procedures aligned with regulatory and internal policies.
  • Committed to providing out-of-hours support to clients impacted by scams, ensuring timely and empathetic assistance.
  • Flexible and reliable, with availability to work early hours to provide consistent coverage and support for the team.
