The Role: Principal Architect

Principal Architects are technical leaders who drive operational excellence in the delivery of complex Modern Network solutions that achieve measurable business outcomes for enterprise customers. They serve as the technical authority for large-scale network transformation projects, ensuring successful implementation through expert engineering practices, stakeholder management, and team leadership.

Presidio is seeking a Principal Architect to lead the technical delivery of Modern Network solutions for top-tier enterprise customers. As a Principal Architect, you will architect, design, and oversee the implementation of complex network infrastructure solutions while maintaining operational excellence across all customer engagements, project deliveries, and engineering team interactions.

This remote position will be based in the Charlotte, NC area & includes up to 30% regional travel

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Lead the technical architecture and design of Modern Network solutions for large, complex enterprise environments
• Define and implement enterprise-grade network architectures that align with customer business objectives and technical requirements
• Ensure technical solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable while meeting performance and reliability standards
• Drive adoption of best practices in network engineering, automation, and operational procedures

Project Delivery Excellence

• Oversee end-to-end technical delivery of complex Modern Network transformation projects
• Lead technical risk assessment and mitigation strategies for large-scale implementations
• Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of technical solutions while maintaining quality standards

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer engineering teams and technical stakeholders
• Conduct technical workshops and architecture review sessions with customer engineering teams
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to customer technical teams throughout project lifecycle
• Establish trusted advisor relationships with customer CTOs, Engineering Directors, and technical leads

Engineering Team Leadership

• Foster collaboration between cross-functional engineering teams (networking, security, mobility, cloud, DevOps)
• Drive knowledge sharing and technical excellence across the engineering organization
• Ensure engineering best practices and operational procedures adherence in all projects worked

Project & Delivery Experience

• Demonstrated success leading large-scale network transformation projects
• Experience managing complex, multi-phase technical implementations with multiple stakeholders
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise network solutions on time and within budget
• Experience with enterprise project management methodologies and technical governance frameworks

Leadership & Communication

• Strong technical leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills with ability to engage effectively with technical and business stakeholders
• Experience presenting technical solutions to C-level executives and engineering leadership
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent

Business Acumen

• Understanding of enterprise business drivers and ability to translate technical solutions into business value
• Experience working with large enterprise customers in complex organizational structures
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives and constraints

Operational Excellence

• Experience implementing operational excellence frameworks in engineering organizations
• Strong focus on quality, process improvement, and customer satisfaction
• Knowledge of enterprise service management and operational procedures
• Experience with technical documentation, knowledge management, and best practice development

Required Skills And Professional Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
• 10+ years of enterprise network engineering and architecture experience
• Deep expertise in foundational and advanced networking technologies (routing, switching, security, wireless)
• Proven experience with Modern Network technologies (SD-WAN, SDN, network automation, cloud networking)
• Strong background in network security, zero-trust architectures, and enterprise security frameworks
• Experience with network automation tools, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code
• Knowledge of cloud networking services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures
