Job Description

As an Associate Product Owner, you will play a crucial role in evolving our platform products and introducing new features and enhancements to existing ones. The Product Owner is an integral part of the delivery team, primarily responsible for guiding concepts from development to launch. This role collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Product Management, Design, Quality Assurance, and Development.

In this role, you will work with and represent business stakeholders to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine, prioritize, and communicate business needs, enabling delivery teams to build effective solutions. This requires a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, as well as the business vision and strategy, to prioritize investment, business value, and delivery.

As the day-to-day decision maker, you will provide continual business guidance for the delivery team. The Product Owner is responsible for prioritizing the delivery team's work to ensure it aligns with the business strategy. You will collaborate with the business and IT delivery teams to identify and mitigate risks, including business operational risks, escalate issues, and develop and recommend appropriate solutions.

You will contribute to a strong culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation by proactively identifying and driving continuous improvement in your own practices and those of the team.

The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of financial products and superannuation, as well as experience in system support and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • At least 5+ years’ experience as a Product Owner or comparable business role in Life Insurance/Investments business.
  • Experience with CLOAS, Life400 and COBOL will be highly regarded
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to facilitate workshops aimed at elaborating business problems leading to high quality solution delivery.
  • Experience in Agile delivery practises and behaviours within a technology delivery team particularly sprint planning and story elaboration.
  • Able to identify potential business, commercial and technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to assess financial, process and technology impacts of decisions or requirements during analysis.
  • Proven record with people management and direct reports.
