We are a small, ambitious team working at the forefront of distributed systems and developer experience, and we’re looking for a founding Head of Business Development to help scale our go-to-market efforts.

About The Role

As the primary commercial entity and core maintainer behind the wildly successful open-source project Dapr (dapr.io), Diagrid offers powerful solutions like Diagrid Enterprise (our support packages) and Catalyst (our workflow engine for distributed applications and Agentic AI).

With rapidly growing interest in our solutions, Diagrid is looking for a founding Business Development Lead to join our go-to-market team. This isn't a role for an entry-level BDR; it's an opportunity for an ambitious, hands-on leader to build and scale our entire business development function.

This is not a traditional BDR role where you’re handed a script and expected to follow it. As our first senior business development hire, you will be responsible for scaling and improving our demand generation and lead management processes.

You will partner closely with our account executives and founders, directly influencing how we attract, qualify, and convert opportunities. This is a career-defining opportunity for someone who thrives in early-stage environments and wants to shape the future of a high-growth developer tools company.

Responsibilities

You Will:

  • Serve as HubSpot and AmpleMarket administrator, configuring and monitoring email sequences, lead lists, and automations.
  • Explore and implement additional tools to enhance our sales tech stack (current stack includes AmpleMarket, HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Clay.com).
  • Generate and qualify leads using Dapr user intelligence and tools such as AmpleMarket and LinkedIn.
  • Review, organize, and triage inbound leads for follow-up.
  • Ideate, create, and continuously optimize outbound prospecting sequences.
  • Automate and improve campaigns using AmpleMarket and other modern tools.
  • Support founders and AEs with outbound activities, including running outreach sequences and LinkedIn interactions on their behalf.
  • Help define and prioritize sales support materials and engineering resources to help accelerate deals.
  • Monitor and report on business development performance.
  • Continuously refine outreach strategies based on conversion data.
  • Help define and refine the BDR playbook for Diagrid.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage future BDR hires.
  • Grow into managing a demand generation team as the company scales.
  • Who We're Looking For

You are not a beginner. You're someone who thrives on building systems and processes from scratch. We need a strategic thinker who is also an exceptional executor—someone who can both design the playbook and run the plays.

We’Re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has 3–5+ years of experience in business development, demand generation, or sales operations at a high-growth B2B SaaS company.
  • A data-driven mindset and a knack for optimizing campaigns based on performance metrics.
  • Thrives in startup environments where self-sufficiency is the norm and building processes is part of the job.The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong sales automation and CRM expertise (HubSpot + Amplemerket preferred).
  • Demonstrable skill at building outbound campaigns and optimizing for measurable results.
  • Understands developer-focused markets (ideally in an open-source setting) or has the ability to quickly learn and adapt to technical audiences.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent Diagrid credibly in written and verbal outreach.
  • Shows leadership potential, with an interest in growing into a management role.
  • A clear interest in open-source technology and the distributed application space.
